Brace Yourselves: It's October
Autumn has arrived, Mateys!
I mean, officially, it had already happened. But unofficially, the "feel" to the start of fall has finally come about. For me anyway. September is always a weird month. It's warm. Cool. The start of school for kids and college students alike. The end of the notion of a "summer vacation". But more over, it's still fairly green and warm. Sometimes. And here in Illinois, that's normal. Ish.
Oh, but October. Ah, yes, that to me signals the start to it all. The beautiful vibrant colors of the changing season really start to show. Scary movies and shows are the pull of afternoon T.V. time. Staying up late to enjoy the thrill of being terrified at a new horror film becomes a huge temptation once the kids have drifted off to dream land. Halloween seems so far away. And yet, it is just around the corner.
Black cats, pumpkin patches, crunchy leaves, bonfires, hay rides, trick-or-treating. It's like getting to be a kid again without the mandatory bed time, ha.
My favorite holiday.
And we haven't even discussed the wonderfulness that is getting to dress up as anything you want and going out-IN PUBLIC-without your sanity being questioned.
This is why I'm drawn to Halloween.
This is why the Steampunk movement, community and culture in general, have been so appealing. There, they don't question your madness.
And for the whole month of October, "normies' won't question your madness either. Not too terribly much anyway.
I have some more Halloween-esque updates coming from me crew, mates. Until then, take care and God's speed.
As always.
xoxo,
